What's Self-Care Got to do with Skin Health?

Hey family! It's been a while since I've tended to our blog but those days are no more, I'm back! And today we're gonna look at how self care benefits our skin. Yes, we all know that taking care of ourselves is important for our overall health and well-being, but did you know that it can also have a positive impact on our skin? How? Our skin is the largest organ in our body and it is often the first to show signs of stress, illness, or neglect. By prioritizing self-care, we can improve the health and appearance of our skin.

What Exactly is Self Care?

Self-care is basically the practice taking special care of yourself. It's a simple as it sounds, except sometimes, it's really difficult to find the time. Try finding small activities and practices that promote physical, mental, and emotional well-being and some that just make you feel good. Some examples of self-care include:

  • Getting enough sleep

  • Eating a healthy diet

  • Exercising regularly

  • Practicing stress-reducing activities such as meditation or yoga

  • Taking time for hobbies and activities that bring joy

  • Using safe and thoughtfully formulated products with natural ingredients

How Self-Care Impacts Skin Health

When we practice self-care, even if we start small, we are taking steps to reduce stress, improve our immune system, and support our body's natural functions. All of these things can have a positive impact on our skin. Here are some specific ways that self-care can improve skin health:

Reducing Stress

Stress is a common trigger for a range of skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. When we are stressed, our body releases hormones such as cortisol, which can cause inflammation and other negative effects on the skin. Less stress = smoother skin, less breakouts.

Improving Sleep

When we sleep, our body repairs and regenerates skin cells, and lack of sleep can lead to a range of skin issues such as dullness, dryness, and wrinkles. More sleep = more radiant skin.

Eating a Healthy Diet

We are what we eat and it shows in our skin. A diet that is high in processed foods and sugar can lead to inflammation and other negative effects on the skin, while a diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats can help to support skin health. Healthy diet= healthy skin

Using Natural Products

The skin care industry is booming with products that address any beauty ailment you can think of. But many of them have such horrible ingredients that can cause more harm than help. By using natural skincare products, you can maximize the health of your skin while avoiding potentially harmful ingredients. Natural products are gentle on the skin and less likely to cause irritation than conventional products and often contain a range of nutrients like antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that benefit the skin and lead to a healthier and more radiant complexion. Maybe I'm a little biased but natural products are hands down the winners.

All in all family, practice self care to maximize your skin AND hair health and also use your Nelle's Natural products and watch your skin glow and your hair flourish!
